ABOUT PROMISING PRACTICES
The Region IX Promising Practices Web site offers examples of practices identified in schools and districts throughout Region IX that, as part of larger district systems, are demonstrating overall improvements in student achievement and closing the gap of achievement.
The term "best practice" often describes what works in a particular situation or environment. When data support the success of a practice, it is referred to as a research-based or scientifically-based practice. Be mindful that a particular practice that has worked for someone within a given set of variables shows promise if replicated, however, may or may not yield the same results across educational environments.
Each practice presents:
- About This Practice – A description of the promising practice, along with video of practitioners sharing their experience implementing the practice
Data – Data results demonstrate the impact of the practice, as shown in the identified district and school sites
Research – Relevant research behind the practice
Resources – Examples of tools used to assist with implementation of this practice
The Promising Practices Web site is a collaborative effort between the Regional System of District and School Support (RSDSS), Region 9 and the San Diego County Superintendents’ Achievement Gap Task Force
